Are you thinking of doing something that's different, adventurous or as some might say, something quite daring for your wedding day? Well, this is one wedding that ticked all those boxes, as that's exactly what newly weds Lisa & Christopher Jackson decided to do for their wedding celebrations!
In 2020 Covid put a stop to Lisa & Christopher's plans to get married in Cyprus. So over the last 12 months they were trying to decide on what to do; they just wanted to get married but in a way that was meaningful to them. At one stage they were going to just head to Gretna Green and have an intimate wedding with just a few family members, and that would have also been an enjoyable experience, but then they started thinking about their shared love of diving!
With this in mind, they contacted The Bear Grylls Adventure Activity Centre to see if they could combine their passion for Scuba-diving with getting married! And that's what they did, and they did it very well! The Bear Grylls team openly welcomed their ideas and made sure it was a unique wedding experience to remember. The team were excellent and very organised, making the day run smoothly and safely. This is also the first time that The Bear Grylls Adventure Activity Centre had held a wedding, let alone one with the sharks!
So, after getting kitted up and fully debriefed, Lisa, Christopher and their Daughter entered the shark tank in their full wedding attire, special attention was added to the wedding dress with stitched in weights to stop the material from lifting! (a great top tip for other couples). During the ceremony the celebrant presented diving themed cue cards to the guests so they could see what was happening from the front viewing screen. Christopher hand made their wedding rings which were also exchanged during the service. After about 30 mins the ceremony closed with an amazing display of tropical fish, they were released as confetti before the couple swam back down the aisle! Amazing! To top it all off the newly weds were presented with a personal message from Bear Grylls himself, congratulating them on their adventourous achievement together.
You might think that scuba-diving in a Shark Tank is a crazy alternative idea for a wedding ceremony, but when you watch the ceremony unfold from the viewing area it's quite a moving, tranquil and immersive experience, and I would imagine even more so as bride and groom. With the background music running throughout the ceremony, It was like watching the entire wedding on a huge cinema screen!
After the ceremony I asked Lisa & Christopher how they felt after the experience, and you could clearly see they were just buzzing with excitement and 100% recommend other couples to try diving with the sharks at The Bear Grylls Adventure Activity Centre for a once in a lifetime alternative wedding day experience. Sharing your passions, story and love with your closest guests in the most intimate and personal way is something that everyone involved will remember forever.
